Iran war: The conflict has now spread to Egypt, with strikes hitting Egyptian port infrastructure for the first time. Iran's IRGC says the Strait of Hormuz stays closed as long as US "interference" continues. Saudi Arabia is now directly involved, running joint strikes with the US on Iranian proxies in Iraq, and 14 countries have backed a Saudi proposal for a "Maritime Defense Alliance" to protect shipping.
India protests: The protests weren't fully called off, the Cockroach Janta Party is now threatening to resume nationwide demonstrations after a court order. The court did order the release of detained protesters under 18, but the party says it'll go back to the streets if the government doesn't honor its commitments.
Oil: Still elevated and volatile. Brent is around $87 to $90, WTI around $84, both still up sharply from before the Iran escalation, driven directly by the Hormuz closure threat.
South Korea: The Kospi didn't just dip, it crashed. It's down about 10 to 11% over two straight sessions and roughly 34% in the past month, hitting its lowest level since early April. Samsung and SK Hynix, over half the index by weight, are getting hit hardest on AI chip valuation fears.
